Evil, as an emotional problem

It would seem that there is more to the Problem of Evil than just the philosophical content. If you are struggling with evil and suffering in your life then I imagine anything that has been said so far is likely to leave you feeling cold and unimpressed. What will a proof of God get you ?

There are lots of proofs and lines of arguments for and against the idea of a God. I recently was chatting with someone and they were asking about proofs/evidences for God’s existence. I rattled a few of the arguments off by name as examples. The person I was chatting with noted that none of the arguments presented would actually get to the “Christian God”. The argument from evil seems to be the strongest argument against the existence of a God worthy of worship. So it seems like a natural place to start such ruminations.

What is all this about ?

Well this is an attempt to kick off a project i’ve had kicking around in my head for a while. The goal is to turn this into a book looking at arguments for and against the existience of God. To present those arguments in the best possible form and then to examine problems with them. Perhaps see if the arguments can be rehabilitated.
